INGREDIENTS

  • 1 packet Original Crispy Batter
  • 3 small apples (mix of green and red)
  • 250ml beer or soda water
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp mixed spice
  • Juice of 1 large orange
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • 2 cups rice bran oil (for deep frying)
  • Melted chocolate to drizzle (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Wash, peel and dice apples into small pieces. Add to a large bowl and drizzle with lemon juice. Set aside.

  5. Add the diced apples into the batter mixture and stir through well.
  6. Once the oil is at temperature, take a cookie scooper or use a metal 1⁄4 cup to scoop the batter into the oil, one fritter at a time.
  7. Cook for 30 seconds before turning and cooking for a further 30 seconds.
  8. Place cooked fritters on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  9. Optional: Melt some chocolate in the microwave in 10 second bursts and drizzle over the fritters. Yum!
