Naughty BLT

The BLT is a classic – simple, satisfying, and always a crowd-pleaser. But sometimes, the classic just isn’t enough… Enter the Naughty BLT. This indulgent version takes things to the next level with crispy, crumbed, golden-fried bacon coated in Fogdog Premium Panko Breadcrumbs. It’s crunchy, salty, juicy, and unapologetically naughty – exactly how a BLT should be!

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 6 rashers streaky bacon
  • 1 cup Fogdog Premium Panko Breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup plain flour
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 bagels (or your favourite bun/bread)
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 4 leaves crisp lettuce (cos or iceberg works best)
  • Mayonnaise (generous dollops recommended)
  • 2 gherkins
  • Butter, for toasting bread
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Optional: avocado slices for extra creaminess

Method

  1. Pat bacon dry with paper towels.
  2. Coat each rasher in flour, then dip into egg, and finally press into Fogdog Premium Panko Breadcrumbs until well coated.
  3. Heat a shallow layer of oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry crumbed bacon until crispy and golden on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Toast and butter your bagels (or bread).
  6. Spread mayo on the toasted bagel.
  7. Layer on crisp lettuce, juicy tomato slices, and your crunchy, crumbed bacon.
  8. Season with a little salt and pepper, close up the sandwich, then stock a gherkin on top with a toothpick.  
  9. Serve immediately, and enjoy the naughtiness!
